solidThinking supports a wide variety of import/export file formats.
The installation program will let you select import/export plug-ins that you wish to install. Here you can view a list of the entities that are supported by each plug-in.
Import format file:

3D STUDIO (.3ds) Import • Object • Camera
Export • NURBS Surface • Polygonal Surface
NURBS curves and information on smoothing of faces are not exported. A maximum number of 65535 faces per object can be exported as requested by the 3D Studio format.
